This is a film about Quarry Hill Farm, an organic, sustainable farm in Harleysville, PA.
There is a growing awareness that some of the food supply resources that we have are failing us. It’s not just about raising animals or vegetables, it’s about promoting health.
Healthy eating is not a fad, it’s a whole lifestyle change.
Quarry Hill has a mix of both protein and produce, a polydynamic for the animals, the plants, the environment. Quarry Hill Farm maintains a perfect balance.
Quarry Hill Farm has introduced heritage breeds, breeds that did the best in the environment in which they raise them. They are pastured, more than free range. These animals get organic fruits and vegetables in their diets. They’re getting a salad bar out there in the pastures. It’s one of the only ways to pull minerals out of the ground and have them metabolized in such a way that humans can ingest them into their bodies.
Sloane Six and husband Scott Clemens of Quarry Hill Farm invest in creating a nutrient-rich organic environment for their plants as well, resulting in a bounty of nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables.
Quarry Hill Farm starts with heirloom seeds, and save their own seeds, so there’s an amazing variety of organic fruits and vegetables. They wait for the optimal time to hand pick, so their customers can get it within a few hours of being picked. They deliver it to our customers, whether it’s in CSA format or at the Quarry Hill Farm market. They also deliver to some restaurants and a hospital.
Available for purchase are poultry and fowl products like chicken and duck eggs, turkey products, and guinea hen. Those seeking grass-fed beef and pork products can find them at Quarry Hill Farm as well. It’s the healthiest, freshest way to bring farm-to-table to life.
Customers share with Sloane that the traditional methodology for treating health issues hasn’t worked. They’re realizing that there may be something to an alternative way of diet that would help resolve their issues. Those customers find that eating more healthy makes them feel better.
Sloane and Scott take a holistic approach at Quarry Hill Farm. From raising animals for grass-fed meats, to growing organic fruits and vegetables, to building networks within the community, it is their desire to impart the truth that quality food is one’s best medicine.
Sloane thought she was a healthy person and had no family history of cancer. Her battle with cancer set her on a whole new lifestyle path, in that she realized how important what we put in our mouths and what surrounds us in our environment should have no chemicals. Sloane started to eat in a way that she had never eaten before.
She began by eliminating processed foods, then decided to go organic, then went all organic, grass-fed and local. She and Scott purchased a 106-acre farm.
They realized that what they were doing was important not just for their family, but for their community, not just for cancer survivors, but for anyone having a health issue in their life.
Sloane shares her experience and that of her family with the community. They’re seeing the results of eating healthy — organic, free-range, grass fed — in that the customers are coming back and sharing the dramatic results in the health of their own families.
